Hi gents wondering if you can help me :-

My 3.5 year old Rock laptop froze whilst I was in my Emails, and wouldn't respond to any commands, so I switched it off by the power button. When I switched it on again it failed even to do the start up check, although I tried several times.I left it for two days, and it was fine,so back into my emails. Two days later switched it on,and not even the start up check again. Left it for a few hours , then got the start up check, then an apology page, and left it to start normally, the screen went blank, and nothing happened. Switched off, and back on, but no start up check, tried several times, but nothing. Tried again this morning, start up check happened, apology page came on, so asked it by up and down buttons to start in safe mode, screen went blank, left it for 5mins.nothing happened so switched off, and tried again, no start up page again, tried several times, nothing. Is there anything I can do?

Apology page might be because the config has been lost due to bios battery failure (3.5yr is about right for that).

Not sure where laptops have them though.

Generally this won't cause a freeze though and I suspect from the symptoms your RAM is failing.

Mine was a devil to take apart to access the little battery, replaced it, no probs since.
Don't know anything about RAM failure, seperate problem.

Thanks for your thoughts gents, I didn't know the bios page had it's own battery, I'll have a look tonight.
