Checking out the compare feature on the above link suggests that the only differences between the 595 and 590 are Spotify support on the 595 but not on 590 and Smartphone link on 590 but not 595
i.e for £80 extra you lose the ability to have live traffic info shown on your route and gain spotify support (which isn't needed as I can run spotify on my phone and connect it as an mp3 player - just means I don;t get the album artwork shown....)

I take my previous reply back - had my 590lm nicked last weekend (scroats....
) so had another look at the 595lm v 590lm and it appears the differences are more profound.
You don't lose the smartphone link so live route data remains. As well as gaining Spotify support, the interface has been updated, route calculation is more sophisticated (but still no substitute for maps and planning), it can do more stuff with your phone (texts to speech etc) and it is slimmer front to back and a little taller.
If both units were full price then it's a tempting proposition for the extra cash. However 590lm's can be had for £400-£420 now so its a £180 price difference until the 595 has been around for a bit. Hard to justify when the 590lm is bloody good and you can play Spotify on your phone with the satnav still displaying song details and allowing shuffle controls - it can't manage playlists though.

590LM can be had for as little as £375 if you watch out for the offers. Halfords do this from time to time.

Who would like them to make base-camp a bit more friendly ? At the moment I find it takes too long to use and upload a route.

Nicked from my car parked in private drive in north London - it was hidden but they broke in and rifled the car - lost an iPad and sunglasses and parking change. Would normally take all this stuff out of the car, but the people we were visiting were out for a few hours so went for a wander.....sods law really

Bum I have just bought a map.
Are any of the new 595 / 590 `s going to be rebadged BMW Nav 6 ? My Nav 4 has gone tits up and I need to replacement to suit a GSA TE / RT cradles.............no doubt BM will add a premium.
Will a 595 / 590 fit these mounts ?

I have my Zumo 550 hardwired through my Autocom.
Anyone know if the 590 can be similarly hardwired (I don't want to use Bluetooth) and would like to hear it via the Autocom in helmet speakers.
I contacted Garmin and they didn't know and haven't got around to contacting Autocom yet.

The 590LM comes with a comprehensive loom which includes an audio in/ audio out etc so I think it will work with an Autocom.
