Latest news on SW-Motech Trax luggage

Saw them in the flash and they def are the bizz :thumb2 As good as if not better then the TT's.

(obviuously we're not talking MMs) :aidan

Unfortunately i can see a major drawback for these bags :
Max. Load 5 Kg (11 lbs) per case , quick loc evo specs .
And i realy realy liked them a lot...

Covering their arses. The BMW maximum permissable payload of the cases is 10kg. So I imagine that its the same limit for BMW vario cases and is limited by the strength of the frame/connectors at the arse end of the bike.

ADV Luggage System

Maximum payload per pannier is 10 kg, 5 kg for the topcase.

cheers

I should have been more specific - the F800GS manual states maximum payload of the BMW Vario cases (plural) as 10kg.

Anyone with those cases can tell us what the stickers inside say?

Hi,

I just put my deposit down last week for my 800...now just the long wait until the end of July...

I've been looking into the luggage options are am pretty keen on the SW-Motech Trax, particularly in black. Could someone give me some details of this group buy? I haven't subcribed here yet, but if you can e-mail me at [email protected] I'd be hugely grateful. Thanks :)

So how do these panniers fit to an R1200GS, do I need to but some kind of quick release plate, then the pannier frames, then the boxes. Or is it just the frames and boxes. ??

Or should I just go buy a TT rack and get some adapter plates or something.

I`ve been looking for something like this for a while, cheaper than the TT Zegas and as chunk as the old R1200GS Adventure boxes.

Methinks Metal Mule is a no no now.

PS do we get some kind of discount anywhere these are sold, I notice the http://www.motorbikesandparts.co.uk guys are in Glasgow where I`m from so might try and track them down.

I've ordered these for Tash's 800 they look good and they seem good quality the proof will be in the pudding though
Quick release is good as I couldn't be fecked unbolting panniers and hate riding with them empty.

Good price compared to MMules which are now £1600:eek::eek::eek:

They fit to the pannier rails with a quick release system and the rails also are quick release so they can also be easily removed from the bike leaving just the mounting brackets.

One thing worth considering, I have the old style SW motech racks with the Alpos boxes. They use the same 1/4 trun dzus fastners to hold the frames to the brackets on the bike - they are plenty strong (had at least 20kg per side) but they dont rigidly bolt the frames to the bike so you get a small amount of wobble which is noticable when you chuck it in and out of corners. Mine now have bolts which take about 20 seconds longer to remove than the 1/4 turn jobs plus I'm on my third cut and shut session to make the panniers sit closer into the bike and lower. Other than that its a good system.

So is there a preferred UK supplier for these that we get a discount from. I emailed motorbikesandparts.co.uk and got a response back which implied they won`t have the kit until next month.

Anybody have a supplier they`ve used who has the kit in stock ?

PM me if you`d rather not advertise someone openly.

My Trax finally arrived yesterday after months of waiting. Just fitted them this morning and I'm well pleased. It seems the wait was worth it.

My thanks to Thunder for all his assistance & patience. Cheers. :thumb2

Is that a pair of 45ltr ones?

Can you measure the internal dimensions of them for me?

TIA

Nigel

No, they're 2 x 37 litre panniers. As for the internal dimensions, I'm sure you'll find what you want here . :)

It only gives one set of dims on the site which I am assuming is the externals. Can someone check these and then let me have an idea of thickness of the metal?

TraX 45 49 cm x 28 cm x 37 cm
TraX 37 49 cm x 23 cm x 37 cm

Cheers

Are the dimensions that critical? :nenau
