My sentiments as well DaveyBThese bike threads by people who know their craft and have that passion... are the best on the forum....many thanks for taking time out to photo the stages and write about it.
That's a proper haul and aligns with my OCD - you must have taken ages to get all the plastic bags in line!
I had an RT with the flip-out headlamps like this - how to complicate your wiring in an easy stroke. One side flashes with the high beam. The other side comes on with the main light. But when one comes on, the other goes out, and there's quite a few extra relays in there to control it.Mine has air vents with adjustable outlets in the insdie fairing pockets

And on an 80RT they'll be a pretty good wind brake...I had an RT with the flip-out headlamps like this - how to complicate your wiring in an easy stroke. One side flashes with the high beam. Just realised last night I had this in my watched list on eblag...I'd be buying it to use as is, you'd be buying to mak new...

Looks good and good luck... You've certainly got on with it...He was local to me so we did a deal direct on the bike . It could have been used as is if you were ok with the leaking pushrod seals , other than that I’ve not found any issues with it . I’ll not be making it as new , it will get a full mechanical recommission and deep clean just because I like things 100% mechanically right , but I’ll not be doing paintwork etc

Removed the valves and checked the lateral play , it measured at 0.3mm using the method outlined below so based on a service limit of 0.7mm I don't think I'll need to do the valve guides so I lapped in the valves and re fitted them .

Cleaned the heads whilst the valves were out and also did the barrels . A soak for 30 mins in a bucket of hot water with some Screwfix no nonsense degreaser and a dishwasher tablet completely removed all of the dirt and oil . Heated the barrels up to 275F in the oven and removed the old pushrod tubes , old ones were rusted and leaking from both the barrel joint and the pushrod seal
