Bet his new Motobatt battery is out of the box sitting in battery compartment with crocodile clips, hence why seat is sitting up and on top of charger wiring. I would make a great detective.....nice bike by the way! :D

lose the road runners ,try BT 46's in the correct sizes , or Conti road attacks.
all the red bits , stand , s/stand , lower frames ( paint them black , as they should be) . c/stand missing its' pin
paint cross over black too. lose the rack.
seat is a 2-4 seat ?
front m/guard is modified.

I’m in🍺🍺

I’ve been after an original LM1 first series, a while back, but I’m now not in a position to buy.

This one has all the hallmarks of a first edition.

Taking it back to stock would improve it’s value without detriment to the ride, and it would be even better looking.

The rear indicator stalks should be black, as should be the cross pipe.

Tank top should be satin black not gloss.

Looks like it has a pair of Armour silencers maybe their cross piece also, as said, after market seat. Looks to have the original l/h switches, be nice if r/h one is there. If you change for newer type switches, I’d buy these off you😉

A few comments / answers:

  • The seat is a Corbin one and is hinged at the back and as @HxH guessed, it’s up as it was charging
  • It is a 1st gen bike along with the rounded rear light etc. Dated by MGCUK and by Guzzi
  • Rear indicator stalks are Shaw Stainless, as is the rack - purely for practicality.
  • Red painted items - yes they should be black as should the top of the tank be matt, but I didn’t like the matt
  • The swtichgear is original, but annoyingly it fell over in a car park when the side stand dug in and it cracked the left hand one. It’s been repaired, but it still bugs me.
  • The exhaust system is stainless
  • Unleaded conversion was done by Raceco
  • The battery that was on it is an Odyssey PC625 - not been touched for years and yet when I put a BMW charger on it, it’s gone up to 100% and is showing 14.4V - Time will tell if it will hold a charge mind and there’s the Motobatt hybrid there as a back up
Nothing is seized and all seems good, but I’m concerned about the coating on the right hand cylinder. John is going do it as I trust him totally and any bike that’s not been used for 25 years, will need a thorough going over.

I’m excited to see how it progresses :-)

Mark

It is a lovely bike Mark, but please lose the rack, it spoils the look!

I’ll let John steer things from Saturday, but in the meantime here are a few more photo’s and keep in mind that it’s just been uncovered after 25 years and has not been washed or anything. Clearly there are a few touch up jobs to be done.

I used to hook the battery tender up quite regularly, but it’s not been on for a couple of years and I simply can’t believe this battery. I charged it yesterday, left it off charge overnight and this morning it’s gone straight back up to 100% Seriously impressed. IMG_3323.jpegIMG_3322.jpeg

Ive used Odyssey batteries for well over 20 yrs. Initially on race cars .... latterly on Airheads. Found them to offer high cold cranking ability & very long life...
