Forks and steering head bearings all done

Making the most of the decent weather today and off out for the rest of the day on the R1150RT

A few hours in the garage this afternoon and I had the swinging arm , final drive , rear shock , foot pegs , gear lever and battery re-fitted

I also fitted the refurbished centre stand

Hopefully get back into the garage tomorrow morning and get a bit more done

Rear end all assembled , pannier frames and rear wheel all back on







Front fairing bracket , handlebars and headlight re-fitted



Front brake lines fitted but came to a stop as the upper brake line is for a twin shock model and has the wrong thread as it would connect to a distributor which the mono doesn't use so need to send it back for the correct part

Had to remove the forks again to get the fairing mounted gaiters fitted



Fitted the front brake lines





Moved on to the wiring , fitted the clocks and handlebar switch gear and got everything re-connected and tested



Final job for today was fitting the carburettors



All new cables to fit tomorrow and then it might be time to add some petrol and try and start her up

Cables all fitted and wiring tidied up and tie wrapped





Sorted the fairing out with new windsreen gasket and all new SS fastners



Removed the stereo as it did not work and fitted a replacement fairing pocket with a lockable lid



Will get the exhaust polished duiring the week and re-fitted

Once the fairing is back on I can connect the ignition and get the bike started

Well the cleaning of the exhaust sytem didn't quite go as planned , the left hand header is badly corroded and holed :-(

So I either need to find a used one or I will have to buy a set of Keihan SS headers

Anyone got a decent used set (38mm) ?

Good news is the silencers are in great condition and it has a brand new SS Keihan link pipe

Not sure why the headers are in such bad condition as the rest of the rest of the exhaust system is pristine

I guess I’ll have to blow my self enforced spend cap on parts by £250 and buy a set of Keihan headers

New headers being delivered today so should get the bike all finished over the weekend and then take it for an MOT

I will likely be putting it up for sale as I have seen something else I fancy

If anyone wants a very well sorted low mileage RT let me know.......I will be listing it in the for sale section once all done

I'm not done yet ! I've still got the exhaust to fit properly , then I need to fit the fairing , petrol tank , side panels , seat and screen

Then it will need the carburettors balanced and a MOT before going off to it's new owner
