Lazer header pipes finally arrived and installed.
Some photos can be seen here:http://motorgearcy.com/section.php?id=14
Lazer arrived in a big box containing a kind of Inox pipes puzzle. Nothing to do with the Remus system which arrived as one piece. I have to say that the Lazer looks more elaborated and more professionally builded. It is a racing type build system with all the springs and pieces. Myself I like the way it looks but some other people Iam sure they wont as it looks ruther a messy set up.
Installation took us (2 persons) 1,5 hours without any rush or messy situations.
All of you H&B engine guard owners you might as well forget about Lazer system as it is not combatiple with H&B engine guard. The right hand side oxygen sensor is right in the middle of where the engine guard base screw goes. Even though the left hand side is correctly positioned and the engine guard can be fitted with no problem ... the right hand side is leaning towards the outside making the H&b bar installation not possible. There is no obvious reason for that so I took some photos and send them to the Manufacturer JAMA ENGINEERING so we can clarify if this is the normal set up or a faulty right hand lazer piece. If that is the case then H&B bars will be reinstalled. In the meantime Iam going around without any engine guard .. not a very nice feeling.
Now to the serious staff ... I have installed the header pipes with the stock end can ..result? Sound wise nothing ,niente ,nada!! Upsolutelly nothing even though the cat has gone. There is no backfire and the bike sounds like the stock one. Performancewise the bike has gained low rev power I can hardly keep the front wheel on ground even on 3rd gear. With a little clutch help 4th gear can go airborne. Also there is a gain in power between 6 - 7000 rpm but not as obvious as in low revs.
What next ?? Installation of the Lazet Hotcam end can of course which by now is a must. Conglusion if you like the racing type look of Lazer and you are planning a full system purchase then I strongly reccomend the Lazer system. Price wise is close to Remus,Boss and very far away from Akra.
