Hi there,

The right hand auxiliary lamp on my 2014 LC GSA has stopped working. I was about to post the question of how are you supposed to take the unit apart to change the bulb when I uncharacteristically thought to RTFM. You can't change the bulb...the dealer has to change the entire unit! WTF?

Has anyone else had one of the auxiliary lights stop working?

Yes one of mine began to flicker on and off then stopped working, I mentioned it to my dealer and they exchanged it under warranty,
why "WTF" ?
it's a sealed LED unit as far as I am aware there are no parts that can be changed.

why "WTF" ?

Because waterproof light units and replacement LED bulbs aren't exactly a difficult combo. I'd far rather have something that can be fixed myself in 10 minutes rather than having to lose a half day traipsing to the dealer and back for. Carrying a spare bulb on a long trip is easy enough, whole-unit replacement slightly less so.

So how will that work in france when you have to carry a spare set of bulbs ? do you need to take the whole unit ????!!!!!!!

Think complete LED headlight units on the LCs. You 'can't' replace the LED light sources. The complete light unit takes up half a topbox, weighs nearly three pounds and is $1 416 a pop.
Mmm. Really practical to carry a spare, yes.

You've checked the fuse haven't you?

Mine have blown a couple over the years.

According to the dealer the aux lamps are on a loom of their own and don't have a fuse. Slightly more worryingly, they say they've had to replace a few aux lamps because of the effects of water ingress. Not particularly reassuring for something that should be a sealed unit.

Making what should be user-maintainable items 'dealer only' really is crap for a supposed adventure bike, but there's still no other bike I'd swap it for.
