LC tyre pressures

I'm off to the continent with my Good Lady in a few weeks, our first two up tour on our 2013 1200GS LC.

After a year of ownership I have only just realised that there is only one tyre pressure setting quoted for all conditions. I find that amazing.

Every bike that I have owned to date has quoted higher pressure for fully loaded.

Every car that I have owned has quoted higher pressures for fully loaded.

Your thoughts?

PS It's not unusual. Modern, wide motorcycle tyres have vey strong sidewalls, more than capable of supporting you, your over stuffed panniers, the awesome (heavy) motorcycle and your pillion.
 
The GS really is not that sensitive to tyre pressure differences. Go with what the manual says. If it feels squiggly, chuck a bit more in !
 
How about nitrogen or unobtanium ,a friend told me that it will go faster:nenau:blast

I heard helium is better as it reduces un sprung weight, although maybe best for 2014 models and onwards with the steering damper.

Yep 36/42 under all conditions - but if it just me riding without any luggage, I'd drop them by a couple of psi.

Reduces unsprung weight - yes but not by much!
 
36/42 should be fine, unless you are doing mountain passes, In which case pressures will need adjusted due to altitude. Just don't forget to readjust at the bottom.
 
Just check them regularly .. Best to check when you top up the CAN bus fluid :thumb2
 
I had a problem with my LC when going thro Swissssland , front end wobble , the Swiss BMW technician said to run the bike 2 up and loaded 2.7 front 3.1 rear .

Hey Stick, wouldn't it just gave been easier to keep the tyre pressures the same and ditch the Mrs?
You don't want a pillion messing up the handling on this superb Alpine passes ;)
