Mr and Mrs ChasMill and I stayed at this hotel for one night over Easter.

By my reckoning it’s a good place. Why?

1. It is laid out, not as one building but as a series of chalets, I’d guess you’d call them.

2. Well staffed, all of whom are friendly.

3. A good restaurant.

4. A walkable distance into the very popular town of St Valery sur Somme.

6. Lots of coastal walks (or hire a bicycle) along the coast / estuary of the Somme.

7. Plenty of parking space.

An hour and a half (direct) south of Calais.

PS I was talking to the Belgian owner of the ex-army Land Rover I was parked next to. It was circa 1990, left hand drive (it came from the British army in Germany) powered by a petrol V8 engine. He was with a party of 10 friends, all keen off-roaders. He was telling me that there is a very good off-road circuit nearby but you have to go with an official guide, as parts of it are very technical and / or full of little creeks, which can get dangerous when the tide changes.

We were a few miles south east of you at this place. Also over Easter, however your place looks even nicer so will plan for next long weekend with the Missus.
Rooms fine, menu a bit on the high side for what it was. Ambiance very nice and quiet... plenty of walking in the local woods but for those that don't like riding on thick gravel roadways the way leading to the hotel could be a bit fun....Went by car this time.

I also believe there is a "heritage" railway on the northern side of the estuary, handy if you are a fan of "la locomotive a\ vapeur". Stayed there a good while ago, a lovely little town and wasn't Joan or Arc burned there? or was that Rouen? Cheers :beerjug: John B

There is a plaque in the main square stating that Joan of Arc stayed there on her way to Rouen
