Le Mans to Berlin and a bit beyond

The fine china will be out at 15:30 London time. Cucumber sandwiches, in tidy triangles, with the crusts removed (naturally). Sadly, I don’t have one of those excellent towers for cakes and the like.
I have the Earl Grey tea (Twinings, obviously) - will you need a re-stock, or are you slumming it with builder's tea?

Get yourself down to the local artisan patisserie and stock up on gâteaux...

Your guests will appreciate it.

Edit - you've probably missed your slot for today. Get the Brompton charged up and get to the shop at sparrow's fart tomorrow morning.

It always pays to do a little explore about.

I knew of the back road of Arnage village which cuts out the high street, but didn’t know that there is a very basic air and small car park (both free) close by. I saw the sign and went to have a look:

It will do for Thursday night next year, so that I can scoot straight down to the Arnage Corner campsite when it opens at 08:00 on Friday morning.

The two works Peugeot cars and last year’s winning privateer Ferrari are both out of tomorrow’s Hyperpole shoot-out. The two works Ferrari cars, just avoided being out, too.

Very close at the top of the pile, with one of the two Alpine cars topping the list.

Super performance from Doriane Pin, to head the leaderboard in LMP2 in the practice and in the first round of the three-leg Hyperpole…. Go girl!

I like the format where the LMP2 and GT cars qualify separately to the Hypercars and that no driver can drive all three legs. In other words, all three drivers must be used for the cars that get through to the final third race off.

Thursday, and the sun is up, as the temperature is set to rise towards Sunday’s estimated peak of 29 C.

After a long delay, caused by a problem on the Chunnel and a larger delay at the QE2 crossing, I hear that my three friends seem to have made it to Cap Gris Nez. The plan is that they’ll arrive here at Arnage mid-to-late afternoon, set up in their accommodation (about a kilometre down the road) and then come up to find me at Arnage Corner.

In the meantime, I’ll get on with making supper for when they arrive and then the four of us will watch the Hyperpole. Drink will be taken, no doubt.
