Le Touquet 2007 - First photos

Part 2 - Celebrities on Quads race. What a laugh !!

BTW, spoke with the BMW rider for tomorrow's race, there are 3 BMWs entered in the race, 2 HP2 and 1 1200GS-Wunderlich... (God knows what he's doing there).

There is no longer a straight 15 km line at the start, but after 5 km, there are 3 progressive higher jumps, followed by 2 kms straight into the holeshot. That because last year Despres did 205 kph !!
 
Last instalment of the day, the Quad race. 5 minutes before the start, the rain stopped, and the sun came out.. not a cloud in the sky

Actually saw the UKGSer group's bikes parked at Le Touquet. Since no one was there, I punctured all their tires....:aidan

Too bad I didn't make any photos, but the whole reason to go to Le Touquet is for the Saturday night party !! Forget about the race.... party time !!!

A couple of 100,000 people in the streets, drinking, dancing, singing, revving bikes (and some fighting, but there's a lot of Police everywhere to prevent it).

It's a great time.... even hot chocolate laced with beer will not do it...might as well stay home...:rob

Well spotted! I've never seen so many bikes in one place before! Riding in around 11 on the Sunday morning was mad - there were fasands of 'em! And lots + lots of police stopping the cars :D

We didn't get too wet too often, but Uncle Albert + me got pretty sandy watching on the beach...

Good time had by all - next time we're in town overnight to sort out those French coppers...:mmmm
 
Gosh darn it, I've turned on the telly several times this week and found coverage of last year's race, then I went and missed this year's! I'm sure it'll be repeated several times though!

And Despres on that 950 (?) KTM last year was awesome to watch, but then he just seemed to vanish after the first straight though.

That's because like last year with Despres and his KTM 950 (he could take part this year because of the indoor enduro championship in Lyon), the bike is meant only for the holeshot, and retires after a lap or two. This year, Lenain's HP2 actually died before he finished a whole lap..
