When I had the 24000k service at Cannon's they said that there was a slight leak from the bevel box seal..... and to keep an eye on it. There's a little mist around the gaitor.

Serious?

How much to fix? Steptoe?

It sounds like they mean the bevel drive input seal -

keep an eye on the bevel oil level, if it drops down rapidly, you need a new input seal - Parts ( seal and inner ring ) about £5 - Labour £60 ( £40 if you give me just the bevel to replace the seal)

Cheers.

I'll keep an eye on it and drop you aPM to arrange to get it done.... Don't like the idea of it going pop and being without oil.....

seal

dont ask civil about this, he had a seige with the results of leaking fluid last year on holidays. It cost him considerable time and tremendous expense to get back on the road.

Had a similar problem at about the same mileage. Total bill from Cannons to replace pinion radial seal & crown wheel taper bearing was £93 labour plus £88 parts.
