Any idea please,Why oil is leaking via the rear wheel bolts.
It's not leaking from the large rear seal.
breather is clear also?Thanks guys

It sometimes happens . Where the two parts are pressed together can leak oil through.

It has been posted before, try a search.

Oh Fudge! That's bad, Looks like it's front brake only from now on,As it's a bad leak! Thanks for replys most helpful

Have you recently had the big bearing in the FD changed?
There's a theory that too much heat used to remove the bearing can loosen the fit between the pressed together steel and alloy components of the hub.

I did change the bearing 2 yrs ago, But never used excessive heat.
was going fine until now!

Put a sock in it!!

No seriously, when mine went I prised out the black plastic centre part on the wheel, stuffed a sock (cotton) in the cavity and rode for another three months changing my sock every two weeks. Check the level in the FD too of course.:augie

What type of sock ?? :augie

You said cotton...but long or short ??? :nenau

:D :D

Why use heat to remove the bearing ?? no need to.

You heat the bearing to replace it, and the final drive cover but no need to heat up the actual crown wheel. :nenau

Absolutely. I wouldn't use heat on mine (when I do one it'll be as per your how-to) but I have read on here and ADV of a few people using heat to get the old bearing off. Someone used an oxy torch - his FD leaked through the wheel bolt holes not long afterwards :eek

Well heat was NOT a factor in my 'leakage'
I fit bearings for a living, And the bearing was fitted
With a SKF induction heater.
it lasted 2 years,Which i suppose is a lifetime on a 1200:augie

It had it's final drive:D
