B*LL*X! :mad:
looks certain now - i was hoping it was a passing dog had taken a leak on me Bike, but no.

the last 'Fish Dash' run has killed my rear shock. :(
(ironically, the Fish Dash before that killed the rear shocks on my Guzzi! :blast)

oh well - happens i suppose, if you use the Bike for what it was intended for. :thumb

so,
~ is it rebuildable?
~ what alternatives are there?
~ mine is actually a shock off an R100r, which works very well for my purposes.
~ what would the panel suggest?*
(i'm skint - before anyone even utters the word "Ohlins" :( )

*apart from a good therapist. :pullface

I'm guessing your R100R shock is the Showa oe item?

According to many companies it is not rebuildable. However this is not actualy true. I had one rebuilt 'same as yours' by Falcon shocks http://www.falconshockabsorbers.co.uk/fcontact.htm He does a full postal service.

Give them a shout. They will do a full rebuild no probs. He told me the parts he uses are actually better than the oe Showa originals.
Jills done about 4000 miles on hers now including a tour fully loaded around France and Spain with no probs :thumb2

Val.

yes it is rebuildable , i see it while i was searching shocks on here the other day. sorry dont know which thread it was, cant be difficult to find though as i found it:D
new ones are £250 upwards a rebuild is £100ish?? good luck

Clarence Bell near greyabbey on the strangford peninsula

Thunder knows his Numba off by heart with all the airhead shocks he's bought this last year!

I think that Pete at Every Accessory does rebuilds of most shocks. He also sells Wilbers shocks as well, but I won't mention buying a new shock ! I would expect to pay around £70 for a recon depending on bits needed.
Website is

http://www.everyaccessory.co.uk/prod1.asp?ID=320&title=

and Pete does keep an eye on the Forum here from time to time. I got my 1150 shock from him -very helpful guy. Based near Coventry.

He wanted £180 to rebuild and respring a new Wilbers. Can't imagine he'd rebuild a Showa cheaply

I am surprised, as a new Wilbers is around £300+ only. Or it was when I bought mine. But sure you're right. Maybe Pete will come along and give a price ?

Thanks one and all. :)
but...
all plans on hold at the moment due to minor cash flow issue :banghead:

apparently...
theres a guy in Rathfarnham, Dublin that rebuilds a lot of Offroaders rear shocks.
allegedly,
he'll rebuild mine for approx €70 :bounce1
will report back as i find out more....
like his contact details for a start. :blast

How did that rebuild go ogmios? My rear shock now leaking too, happy with one performance, would be even happier of I could rebuild it myself.

You can't expect an old un like ogmios to remember that far back !!:eek:

p*ss the f*ck orf sonny! :rob
I'll have you know ....

oh ffs - what was i saying now? :confused:

AHHhh - yeah, well, i ended up getting Mototechnic (Kimmage) to repair the original (that allegedly is not repairable :P ) - good as new.
However,
Franc/k the Frenchman - and shock guru is no longer there. You could phone and see if Robbie does it (ph: 490 89 47). He's very good and will say straight out, yay or nay. :thumb2
Or,
call to 'Redzone' also in Kimmage - they now have a bicycle specialist beside them / subletting and they apparently repair Motorcycle shocks and are good at it too - but i have no personal experience.
Let me know if i can assist - i live close by. :thumb2
~~~
Og,
getting pissed off with age references lately - the Dr, the physio - even Mrs Og has mentioned 'age' lately - i'm in danger of paying attention at this rate! :tears
EDIT: Sorry BMurr - forgot (shuddup at the back!) where you were - PM me with detail if you want - i'll drop in and ask - we can work out a way to collect/deliver/whatever later.
