Leaking System 6

I just wish Arai would make a flip front.

My thoughts exactly. Arai are the only helmets that have fitted me consistently over the last 25 years.

I'm sad too, to read all the problems with the system 6 too as it is the only flip front that actually fits my head. Maybe it's just as well I haven't got round to buying one yet.

Still selling them leaking

My mate bought one recently and has written a review for another site, this is what he says

I have had a System 4 helmet since 2002 the interior had gone and spares are no longer available. It was time for a new flip front lid.
Having had such good service out of my last BMW helmet I obviously went back for more and found that the system 6 had some nice new features
such as quick release ratchet style buckle and flip down tinted visor.

First the good points the helmet fit is nice and comfortable although you need to get a snug fit as the foam does loosen a lot after a few weeks use.
The central button under chin peice is easy to operate even with winter gloves on and the air vents give a good blast across the top of your head.
The interior is easy to remove and washable and the visor is a simple push button on either side to release.

The bad points.. It leaks and BMW say yes they 'all do that'. BMW even have a drip-o-meter to show you how much leakage is 'acceptable'.
My system 4 never let in a drop but system 6 drips away after just 15 minutes riding in light rain (0.5 to 1mm as measured by the metoffice weather app).
My first helmet was replaced after 24 hours due to a faulty tinted visor so it never saw rain. The second helmet lasted 3 months then started to leak.
First just a drip, then a few days later a steady stream. Now, pouring down the inside of the visor is one thing but when it started to drip onto the top of my
forehead I took it back. Again it was replaced and 24 hours later my new, new helmet start the drip, drip, drip down the visor.

Customer service at Chester Motoradd has been perfect, I can't fault them but this seems a backward step in quality of product if a £400 helmet is only fit
for use in countries without rain or cold weather.

Hopefully BMW will address these issues.. we will have to wait and see.
