Took bike for service at 21k miles. After oil and filter and all the rest, I pick up my bike and park in garage. In the morning there is a small puddle of oil under the sump. Oil is leaking.
Took back to service fellows who thanked a second look.
Diagnosis: leaking sump gasket. :blast
Anyone had one of these before?....or heard of an issue of this kind?

I have not heard of leaking sump gaskets before on this model. If the service has been done recently the dealer should have made sure the bike was "oil tight" after the oil and filter change. I would have a word with them first before any remedial work from yourself.

OK, so here is the explanation:
I mount a BMW alu sump guard. On this I have affixed the TT alu box for my tools. Right now, I am touring abroad with a fair amount of off road riding along what some might call firetracks. The added weight of the tool box causes vibrations on the sump guard that in turn deteriorates the seal on the sump gasket. This is true when riding g off road.
DO NOT USE THE TT TOOL BOX ADD ON TO THE BMW ALUMINIUM SUMP GUARD. It will cost you time and money.
