I want to replace the small bulb in the parking light in my 1988 100RT. The bike came with a 20w halogen inside the headlamp itself.

Why don't the bloody manuals ever state the correct nomenclature for the bulb?

looking at this website, it would seem to be this type a 233, is this correct. Answered my own question, it is a 233 or alternatively a T4W.

How would LEDs compare to these? http://www.bikebulbs.com/view_products.php?bike_link_make_id=3&bike_link_model_id=1119&model_lamp_code=T4W

While on the subject, who sells these on the highstreet, any idea?

20w bulb is a commuting upgrade. The theory being it's almost as bright as the headlight, but about 1/3 the power usage. And if you're not spending much time above 2000 rpm the reduced power usage is helpful for stop, wait for the traffic lights to turn, start for a cople of minutes etc etc.

I bought one from Motorworks, the 20w so they should be able to help going the other way back to a 4w one.

I put a LED light in mine but decided I would only use the parking light about .001% of the time so why bother with the power saving, compared to running with the 20w bulb which outside of the EU was on 75% of the time.

Hopefully a bright LED in the parking light above the headlight itself will give me an odd looking light set-up, which may make me more obvious.

My mates all tell me that the Hellas on my 1150GS look so odd in the rear view mirror that they stand out from the crowd.

I have LED spots from Halfords on my Diversion, and it has the same effect.

There`s an easy way to save yourself from all these 'problems'....

Keeping your lights OFF in the DAYTIME and use them properly at NIGHT. :augie :augie

oh - and post me your 20w bulb - cant find them wee feckers here. :nenau

Is this the sort of thing ? Use one these on my airhead as a sidelight -matches the HID kind of blue-ish colour. Much brighter, but they are tricky to remove, once installed, as they tend to come apart around the collar-it is a bit thicker than the connector part, and gets a bit stuck in the holding grommet. Works just fine though -even in daylight.
