LED Fog lights 2014

Putting it like that you are quite right but replacing the light was a first thought who would expect corrosion on a new bike, and to be fair that did work for a week the problem was the opposite end of the cable, So will make sure that's got plenty of Gt85 or similar in future.

The main thing for me is it is sorted (fingers crossed) yes in this case NOG made a mistake but we are all human and in fairness they are very pleasant to deal with so I forgive them.

We'll guess what the left hand light has packed in again, quite frustrating really, I assumed this would be a simple fix but apparently not.
Will call NOG again in the morning maybe 3rd time lucky

Time to do the wiring yourself and show how easy it is to your clearly incompetent dealer. And no, you won't harm your warranty.

Its just a fekkin 12v light. How hard can it be?

............and a £200 (x2) light at that

Unbelievable really. Sounds more than wiring to me; software? switch? Whatever, hope you get it sorted guys.

Well I wonder if they have replaced sufficient wiring and connectors ?

It is frustrating when as a lad you could buy a couple of lamps for your XR2 from Halfords, wire them up in ten minutes and look really cool !

These are £400 of LED greatness and look excellent but thank goodness there's a 2 year warranty on them. I might still be fixing them in ten years time when I change the bike as they were NEVER right :-(

Please keep us updated Terry

That was another place, another time... It still exists of course, just not in 'New BMW Land'.

Where everything seemingly necessitates a visit (on your time obviously), to a witless 'mechanic' at the 'Dealer'...

And if it's not sorted, then another visit, and so on... They should be collecting your bike, it's their problem surely?

Gents it's definitely water related it packs up after being washed, I washed the bike 8 days after it's last dealer visit and that was that no left hand fog light again, I assume a trip out in heavy rain will end with the same result.

I know it's only a light and I'm not losing the use of my bike but I like to ride with the fogs on as it makes you more visible to those that are out to get you.
For me now whatever the next fix is I will be waiting for the light to pack in again in the future.
For me it's more the hassle of having to juggle getting the bike there with work and things it becomes really annoying in that respect.

As far as I am aware they haven't replaced any wiring, the dealer said it was corrosion so cleaned the terminal and sprayed it with ACF50. I think they need to replaced the wiring and connectors now.
Like you say how hard can it be.

That's not a fix. Its a temporary repair. Doesn't address the root cause of the problem, which is water ingress. These guys are idjuts, fobbing you off and wasting your time.

Well bike goes back in tomorrow morning, so fingers crossed it's a proper fix this time. Watch this space

Terry

Keep us up to date with the light over the next couple of weeks please?

Thanks

Well been back for the 3rd time and NOG have found a problem with the actual fog light there was a blob of solder or similar preventing the connector seating correctly near one of the terminals, this was obvioulsy allowing water ingress and causing corrosion, they checked the ones they had in stock and found others. I now have a good one fitted so hopefully now ok.

All good so far and I've washed it twice, well done to NOG definitely not an easy to spot issue, cheers to the eagle eyed Tech

Yaaaa they still work now to get the seat issue finally sorted

Well the fix this time has lasted a month, but unfortunately I've had to book it back in as the L/H fog light has packed in again. I and NOG really thought it was sorted this time.
I've been caught out in huge downpours and of course washed it several times since the last fix but it seems water is getting in somewhere.

Bet I'm not the first to suffer it's the same light that is fitted across the range so I'm sure there must be others.

Well it's been in and no faults can be found, was working again but has now stopped, NOG have raised a PUMA report to see if any others have been affected, and then hopefully what the fix is.
Has any one else on here had this issue ?

Terry

Yes Terry we both had this issue. Motorrad Central replaced the wiring.

It's ok at the moment (10 days later)

How about buying a travel kettle and wiring it to the fog wires. Stand back, expect to see a blinding flash from the problem bit. Call the fire brigade. They'll wash the bike with a special hose. Then claim on your insurance for a new one....problem gone forever. :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Do you know if they raised a puma report. As at least then Oxford will see it.
Cheers Terry
