Was in for a service and noticed the new K1600 GT with LED foglamps, so asked if they were available for the GSA, turns out they are the same fitting and same lead to connect but BMW were saying not to fit to GSA due to the vibration. Has anyone fitted these lights to the GSA? I have ordered them up from BMW £90 each and have fitted rubber bushes to the light bar to reduce vibration. Any advice would be good. These lights were awesome on the K1600!:flag

I can't see them being a problem, LED is supposed to be tough. I have 4 vision x on mine and no probs at all.

Hope this helps...

Have a set on my r1200gs not adventure and no problems so far, but connection to bmw led light is different to connection to the bmw aux lights

:blast and I was told categorically that there's no excessive vibration on the DOHC models...........?

They're not fitted at the moment due to problems with cooling the lights.
Sounds daft I know but where they would be installed on the std 1200gs the design of the mudguard is funneling the air flow past the lamps and not cooling them sufficently so they shut down.
On the 1600 they are right out in the airstream. So if you've fitted them & they go wrong no doubt the warranty will be voided because you were told that they aren't to be fitted

1st I've heard about the overheating on a GS, though I did check whether they got hot during the 1st week or so, the fins aren't a fashion design!

But... in just over a month and some 6K miles later the LED fogs are working ok and I never turn 'em off.

My original H11 fogs will be up for sale soon.

I asked my local (German) BMW dealer about the LED lights at the end of last year and was told they are OK for the GS but not the GSA - reason given by BMW is vibration. Nothing about cooling, etc.

I would have thought that LEDs being solid state would be a lot more reliable than tungsten filament bulbs. I think the failure point is the mounting of the bulb and they would be OK if the mount was protected by a silicone shroud or similar to dampen the terrain induced vibration. Nothing to do with DOHC engines:).

LED foglights

Just off the phone to my local stealer and the lights come with a cable to adapt them to the standard GSA foglights. Supposed to be shipped today but BMW only sent them one - Dohh!!!!:blast

Just got the lights picked up. The BMW part number is 63177721320 LED ZUSATZSCHINWERFER, I guess thats german for LED Foglights!!!:D

My mate has had a set of these on his 2010 GSA for about 4 months now.

They look just as bright, and with the same blueish light as my HiDed spots.

If i didnt know they were LEDs id think they were HiDs.:cool:

He's very impressed with them.

LED foglights

I will take a before and after photo, but I've seen the difference with the bikes side by side and it's amazing! Hope to have them fitted this weekend :thumb2

I'm really interested in the reach of these lights compared with the standard GSA aux lights. The lenses on the standard lights aren't designed to give spotlight performance and for that reason converting them to HID's doesn't achieve a great deal. I'm wondering if the LED's will be better.
