LED indicator bulbs..

I know you can get replacement LED bulbs for the rear tail light.
These are white and sit behind the red lense.

However. I had one of these and was not 100% convinced it was any brighter so stuck with the standard bulb.

I have changed my standard amber lenses for clear ones to have a set of widetail red LED's fitted to the rear set. I recently blew a standard rear amber bulb.

And it just occured.. can you get replacemnt bulb unit that has amber LEDs in it instead of which.??
I know you can get entire replacements for the indicator internals but i dont want that.

So can you get amber LED "bulbs" that will fit stock mounting? If so.. where please..??

I am lead to believe that LEDs are more durable.. and last longer. I am hoping this is right..

Yep, absolutely.

Any chav bling car shop will sell them.....normal bayonet fittings, available in pretty much any form that you can get a 'normal' filament bulb.

No idea on prices, I haven't looked, but the place local to me does them and I've seen them in lots of other places.

try this guy, he is so e-bay, he really knows his stuff and very,very helpful , just bought 5 LEDS with correct resistors for about a fiver all in inc post

Er....yes you can......

A lot of cars have clear lenses and amber bulbs.....I believe the chavs call them Lexus lights........

And you can get amber led bulbs with standard fittings.....as said before, Chav car styling shops

I've not seen an amber LED that fits an o/e socket that face's out yet, there all straight so they light into the unit not the lens.
Ok for cars but no good for an indicator stalk.

I think that due to the reflector shape and size a unit that directs the light mainly out will also light it up sufficiently and probably still brighter than the standard bulbs if not equally.

But heck with it.. will have a trawl in the shops and see.. cheers folks..

Oh one thing worries me.. why do you folks know so much about chaves.. ... all I can say.. is em !

Er actually that's one thing I didn't mention......the LED 'bulbs' aren't bulb shaped..the ones I've seen have a flat disc with the LEDs on, and the disc is wider than the section across a normal filament bulb.

Feck knows what effect that might make witha properly designed reflector unit....you may well lose a fair bit of the brightness because the light isn't coming from the same place, and worst case scenario, the 'bulb' may not actually fit in the lens unit.

If I were buying one (don't see the need meself though) I'd probably take the thing in and try one, or at least take the bike down and get them to let you try one first.

Rocks - if you can get to our soiree tomorrow evening you can check out my lights which I got from Nippy Norman. Full set front and rear with additional brake light "strips" in the rear indicators with a clear rear stop lamp lens (and LED rear lamp). Its all fully reversible and the whole set up well.......rocks!
Its the Northwest meet at the Windmill pub.
