Hi all. I bet this has been asked before so apologies if thats true.

I've been given a pair of spots that were fitted to my friends K1200s. I intend fitting them to my GS lc but not before i've converted them from 12v 55w halogen to H3 LEDs. I've found some on ebay plus a handle bar switch and wiring.
My question is. Where do i pick power from, would the aux power to the right of dash run 2 LEDs or even sat nav power. I'm not thick when it comes to wiring but this canbus stuff is a bit beyond me.

Ideally, they need to go off when ignition is off.

Any advice or links would be greatly appreciated.

Gaz.

I'd use a relay, triggered from the back of one of the power outlets or the OEM GPS connector.

Those LEDS will be pulling nearly 5 Amps, so you won't be able to power them from the GPS connector.......the 12v sockets are (I think) limited to 5A, and although in theory the LEDS will pull under that (4.5 something) I would keep it simple and guaranteed to work by running it from a conventional 12v relay switched by one of those two safe sources

Hi Fanum and thanks for the info. Would never believed 2 LEDs would pull nearly 5A, thought LEDs were good on current draw.
Ok so power from battery via 5A inline fuse to run lights and relay coil from aux socket via handlebar switch, that way switch could be left on as relay would drop out when ignition turned off.....yes?

Cheers Gary.
