I have just ordered 250 of these units for mates & fellow riders in South Africa. They will be used on everything from BMW's to Kawa's ........ one chap even putting them on his LDV!

From posting the availability of the Lights yesterday (Sunday) morning at 9am - all the lights have been sold or allocated to forum members! ;)

Would like to guage whether there's any interest here on the UKGSer forum as I have to place another order for SA and might as well bring a few over here as well if they will sell?

Specifications as follows:

  • LED 1 High Power Cree LED. 6000K
  • Certification CE
  • Input 9V-50V
  • Power Consumption 10W
  • Lens PMMA Lens
  • Housing Die-cast Aluminium Housing
  • Bracket Stainless steel
  • Connection Deutsch socket Connector
  • Waterproof IP Rate IP 68
  • Operating Temp. -40 degree to +85 degree
  • Light Output 900Lum
  • Illuminating Distance A bright area covering 15m long and 10m wide
  • Lifespan Extreme long lifetime up to 50,000 hrs
  • Net Weight 320gr
  • Thermal Protected
  • Reverse Voltage Protected
  • Warranty 1 year
  • Environmentally Friendly Contains NO mercury, lead or other heavy mentals.

Depending if I can get all things sorted with HM Revenue & Customs.... (import duty, clearance & VAT) Probably looking at around £100.00 per set

Are these a straight replacement for the existing H11 fog lights fitted to BMW R1200 GSA bikes?

Do you need to reprogramme the CanBus due to the lower power consumption of the CREE LEDs?

I note they are CE Marked, but do they have an E Certification number for the EU? It will be stamped on the glass I think. If not present, not legal in Germany and would fail the TÜV.

Otherwise look good, especially with alloy housing.

Assuming that they work with the F800GS electrics, I would like a set, possibly two.

The spots on my GSA don't run on Canbus , they have separate fuses under the n/s panel:thumb
I prefer HIDS:)

OK, but do they not have a warning of bulb failure on the instrument cluster? That would be controlled via the CanBus I would have thought.

I do not know whether they will be a straight replacement for the GSA's lights. Most (as far as I know) of the chaps that have purchased these in SA are installing them on bikes that have no spots.

I have ordered a few sets for testing here in the UK - Will advise as soon as they arrive. I will see whether they will work on my GSA.... :thumb

Not dissing the vendor or product, and that's probably the going rate, just a general comment about "addons".

But does no one else cringe at the thought of paying £100 for a pair of spot lights?

You probably have to compare the price to an original BMW supplied part. The BMW part will be C number certified and legal in Europe, but maybe still has the plastic housing, if like the standard halogen fogs on the BMW R1200GSA.

I considered HIDs also, but they are not an option in Germany (where plod will stop you and sell you a ticket to their policeman's ball :blast).

If I fitted the HIDs, I would have to change them over for each TÜV test, which is a PITA.

LED's

Assuming that a set is a pair, then yes, put me down for a set, just let me know when you need the money!

Chaps the £100.00 indicated is really a guesstamate based on the cost of the units + shipping - then as far as I can see there's a 3.7% UK Import Duty and then 20% VAT to be added.

I've always been fair to the people I have supplied to - in other words my ethos was always to sell quantity at affordable prices for everyone and to make my "fortune" off the profits by the time I reach retirement age rather than in a short 1 month period!

I've only once before brought goods from South Africa with DHL - they screwed up somehow... I ended up having to bend over at the HM Customs and got badly shagged for duties because they did not advse and do the correct assessment!

So a lot of this is new......... I'd rather quote a high price and surprise everyone when the cost is less :thumb

I'm waiting for info from HM Customs to see under which code they want it brought into the UK............ will then post update.

The supplier is also revising their quote at the moment for the UK..... :thumb

Chaps - have decided FANUM has some stunning LED lights available...... as a "junior" member of this establishment........ I'd prefer members to support one of the stalwards! :thumb

So will not be bringing these in for the UK market! Apologies if they made you drool :comfort
