Hi All..

I know its not "fashionable" to suggest converting LED indicators back to bulbs but thats what I would like to do.
The "superior" LED's are nowhere near as bright as the bulbs were on my previous GS..

Is it possible or am I stuck with then due to CANBUS technology ?

Think no problem on later, 08 onwards to WC. As can add LED indicators without issue so dont see why you cant refit bulb type. Early 1200GS needed to be programmed to accept the LED lights.

Have a set of bulb indicators with clear lenses:augie

My 2008 GSA has amber bulb clear lens indicators. If in doubt ask a BMW dealer if its possible to swap from LED to filament.

Hi, I would suggest it's a backwards move for reliability, & also the filament runs a much higher wattage/amperage & the can bus would more than likely not work at all or give intermittent operation.
I would think the only way you will get a definite answer would be to connect a pair of indicators up to the bike..
Sorry if that's not what you want to hear..
Good luck tho

I upgraded my bulbs to LED's on my '08 easily enough - bought them s/hand off this site. The rear ones are both indicators and brake lights and work very effectively. They seem plenty bright enough to me.

Talked to a mechanic at Preston BMW today and he said yes they could be swapped.
The LED's are bright enough at night or on a dull day but nothing like as bright as a bulb on a sunny day.

LEDs are give a directional light. So LED indicators can be very bright for drivers behind or ahead (who need to see what you intend to do) but almost nothing from the side where folks don't care what you intend to do.
