Found the thread I did on this (on BMrider - copied below). Checked the digikey link - still working so you can get the switch from there still.
It is a small push button switch that is at fault, but BMW don't sell as an individual item. Quoted £220 for a new left hand switchgear - at least zorro wore a mask!
There was a thread on this forum and also ukgser (
http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthr...=184662&page=3) that were a great help. I ordered up some switches from digi-key @ approx £3 each. Details at

I've just put one in and it works great.
Things to note:
1 - there are 2 versions of the switch in digi-key, one being 1.5N pressure and the other 2.5N pressure. I have used the one coming out of the 1.5N bag, but suspect it was in fact the 2.5N one but both should work.
2 - you'll need to remove the black inner from the old switch and keep the white collar (easy to prise off) to slide the new switch into.
3 - once soldered, fill with some sort of sealant to prevent shorting, and presto, sorted
I'm beginning to find it's the simple things that make me happy!
Best of luck Gareth
