I’m sure this has been asked before but it’s come up at perfect timing with this lovely eastern weather we’re having.

My left heated grip has stopped working this week. Is this a case of replace the grip or if I find someone with a GS911 might it be an ECU issue? The right one works fine.

It’s a 2009 R1200GS single cam

Oh and before anyone says get some Oxford grips I want to stick with the OEM switch gear so if I need to replace it I’ll have to spend silly BMW money - any links to guides on replacing it would be appreciated!

Have had the same problem on 08 GS. Part number at link below. Motorworks sell and I'm sure on ebay too

Grip has a screw securing it. Hole for screw was slightly different if i remember, so i had to enlarge it slightly.

Only faff was a sticky bar-end bolt and had to use an impact driver to loosen it.

One point i would make is that the new left grip is not as hot as the old right one. I don't know if that is because the right grip is worn, and so there is less material above the heating element, or because the specification is different for new part

You can also go the DIY route and try to fix the grip, there's a few videos on youtube on how to fix this. All you'll need is a soldering iron and a sharp knife. It worked for me just fine... until both started not working all together, but that's a different story which is either the switch or further down the line.
