Push the back of the seat down as you turn the key. The key turns easily and you will feel the catch release. Off comes the seat - easy peasy :rob

You have removed the pillion seat first, I take it?

thought id tried that but will have another go...cheers.

remove pillion seat obviously, put key in and turn and hold over and then thump riders seat and voila it will pop up,btw this has been asked many times before search facility is your mate here.

The riders seat used to release without too much struggle on two of my GS's, but on the TB I used to really have to bang on the back of the seat to get it to release.

I used to have a bit of bother with my rider seat, in the end , I got a bit of thin copper wire and attached each end to the clips for the front seat and loop lies under the pillion seat.
Now after removing the rear seat, a pull on the wire frees the front:thumb

After 4 weeks of ownership I have only just managed to sort mine,

keep turning the key whilst smaking the living hell out of the back of the seat, when you get the seat off you need to wrap something around the release pin to stop this ever happeneing again, I used a bit of plastic pipe.

I never thought mine would come off, I tried for days with no joy and eventually I lost my temper and smacked the hell out of it.

same problem

Same issue with my TB, I have to walk away from it and have another attempt once I have cooled down

Don't worry you're not the only one, and there is a knack.

Remove pillion seat, turn key anticlockwise in the seat lock and whilst holding key against the stop, firmly strike rear edge of driver seat (i.e. pushing seat towards fuel tank)

Replacing the seat can be an equal faff. Place the seat in position, then press down hard on the top/rear of the seat (i.e. over where the locking bar engages in the latch)

I've had loads of practice, and somedays it's first go; other days 5 mins wondering what engineering genius had the idea to turn a simple seat release mechanism into a Chinese puzzle box.

When you do get it off try some WD40 on the latch........made mine so much easier. :D

Turn the key then give the back of the seat a sharp bash with yr free fist...and voila!...up she pops.

Fluff.

Well after a few thumps and wiggles it came off, and went back on ok, as for next time, who knows !

I've found too many tools or badly packed tool roll under the seat causes problems fitting and removing the seat. Keep the tool roll flat and don't force the seat on and it should come off easy.
Good luck,

Lynchy :beerjug:
