Lighting problem

Hi All,

Just took bike for MOT, it failed on no front lights, they were working when I took the bike in and they came on again briefly in the mot station then went out again. No warning lights up and all other lights working ok. No lights to main and dipped, checked bulbs whilst there , they are ok, cleaned up connections and back in but still no lights. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Spray some wd40 in the high/low switch.

Mines stuck once or twice.

You do know the dipped beam only works with the engine running don't you??

Does the MOT man know this??

Hi,

Yes do know lights only work when engine running. Found on another forum that you can turn lights off by using indicator switch whilst going through start up. Cleaned everything up and restarted but waited for bike to reset all setting first and they seem to be ok now. Will try again later to check.

They also automatically turn off a short while after the engine stops; and magically come back on when a wheel rotates. So, if you stop the engine and leave the ignition on, the lights will go off. If you then push the bike forwards ( or backwards) whilst the ignition is still on, the dipped beam will come on.

Start the engine and they come on.
