Lights, on off, on off, what dat all about?

I accept that into each life a little rain must fall, but this is taking the wee wee.
bulb failure light comes on. Its happened before and then it feels better and starts to work again.
Not this time, so I buy and fit a new bulb. No change, still doesn't work. ride home on main beam and then notice that the dip has started to work again.
But, the failure bulb stays on. Get home, switch off. Switch on again, no headlight dip beam. Check the "sidelight", this has blown. New bulb.
headlight and sidelight work for one second then all goes out again. Sidelight bulb has blown. Replace it. Now:
main beam works
dip beam doesn't work
sidelight works
bulb failure light doesn't come on.
all bulbs tested and working, including the one initially showing as failed.

Have I inadvertently offended the Bavarian wood spirits and how do I appease them?
Or how do I find out what is going on?

have you tried swopping the working Hibeam into the failed Lobeam? If you are careful and wear gloves you do not have to put the holder back into the reflector each time. I did this several times when mine went through a phase of blowing lots of headlights - about six in six weeks I think. From then I only bought Ring lamps and now no probs.
And off topic, mentioned before, but is it wise to use your email address as a name??
