Got the ADV fog lights fitted to standard GS with the standard BM brackets, one of the lights has broken, still on but don't know for how long, but can I fit any other make of lights to this bracket, after driving lights not spots, already has the BM wiring to the lights.

Snooky,

driving lights are spots. Do you mean fog lights (flat beam pattern, can be aligned to your dip beam)?

The way the BMW fogs mount is unique in my experience. You'd be better off selling the brackets and the good lamp you have, then buying a new light bar (there are LOADS on the market) and fitting some cheaper lights. You should easily cover your costs that way.

Alternatively, try giving the usual suspects (Motorworks, Sherlocks, Motobins) a ring and see if they have a scrap BMW lamp.

Mike:)

Just missed a second hand one, but have you seen the cost new.......£148, looks like the idea of a new bar seems the best one so far.

on a related note, what type of spots do people recommend? Hella FF50s seem quite popular?

Personally I'm loooking for a physically small lamp unit, some of the larger lamps I have seen pics of look slightly ridiculous, IMHO :)

Given the cost, the quality, the overall size of them and how well the FF50's perform, they are simply unbeatable.

And no I don't work for Hella either, I have just fitted and tried more lights than most people!

Can I assume these can be used along side the dipped? and where's the best place to buy them?

These are the FF50 fogs, great as 'riding lights' Bryn:)

Well I decided not to go for FF50s as everything I've read describes them as "fogs". A driving light to supplement main beam needs to have a tight beam not a wide diffuse beam like a fog light.

So, I bought some "Ring" driving lamps from Halfords over the weekend. 40 quid for the pair, including some wire, a relay and a fuse holder. I'll report back when I've fitted them. I did test the beam by connecting one to a battery and it's a nice tight pattern with a small amount of horizontal spread - looks ideal for enhancing the main beam on my 1200.
