Hello,

I'm after some advice and opinions.

When I got my R1100GS a few months back I saw the big ugly collector box underneath and thought it was a box with a Cat in it, so I mentally added a new link pipe to my list of things to do. I picked one up from Ebay, and it was only when I came to look at it today that I realised that the box underneath was in fact part of a full Remus system, it's one of these (although my end can is different.

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/87880173@N07/17601374222" title="1000051358_03 by Ambassador99, on Flickr"><img src="https://c4.staticflickr.com/8/7794/17601374222_854e99efca_z.jpg" width="640" height="461" alt="1000051358_03"></a>

Which looks like it doesn't include a Cat.

The bike also has the beige coding plug which I think is for a Non Cat bike.

The Link pipe I bought is one of these :-

<a href="https://www.flickr.com/photos/87880173@N07/17601374212" title="lv by Ambassador99, on Flickr"><img src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8803/17601374212_3973323b6a_z.jpg" width="640" height="362" alt="lv"></a>

And as you can see the diameter of the link pipe won't fit to the Remus end can.

So my question is: Is it worth swapping to the new link pipe (which might be a Leo Vince) and getting a new end can, is that going to make any difference ? I had thought the bike was a little strangled and could probably be a bit more efficient, hence the plan to DeCat it, now I'm not sure wether to proceed or not, the only advantage I see is the link pipe is really good to look at ! Oh and if there is no Cat in the box, what is in there ?

Cheers
Mike

Its just a Muffler Box

You can get a stubby end made up to fit onto the muffler I had one on my "GR" Sort of a hybrid beastie I built

Or just get an End can to Match that link Pipe ORrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Search E bay for Predator Exhausts its a link pipe and end can together for about £120 "ish"

Couple of folks I know bought them and they pleasantly surprised

Or My Pal will swop you a Quill can and link pipe (plus maybe a couple of quid theres a dent on the Quill can you cant see when its mounted but you can when its sitting beside the bike)

I sometimes work in that area, nearer Walsall, rode that way today .. ? :-)

Some interesting options thanks ! Will have a think about what I'm trying to achieve here ! Thanks

I just bought a Remus Viper exhaust off this forum for my R1100GS. I already have a Remus system fitted (bought from another member of this parish) with a collector box like the one in your picture. (not sure what model of Remus it actually is).
The Viper has a link pipe that has the larger diameter for the end can so you should be able to get one from Remus or off ebay, etc. Interestingly the key dimensions of both Remus systems are the same so I have been able to initially fit the Viper end can straight onto the existing collector box. Gives me some options in terms of loudness.
I have been trying to find out if the Remus collector box (and indeed the original BMW exhaust on the bike when I got it) had a catalytic converter. (See other thread in this section). I'm inclined to think neither of them do. My bike is a 1999 model and has a beige cat code plug. It does not have lambda sensor but it does have a CO pot. I previously understood that this model was not supplied with a catalytic converter.
I have fitted a stage 5 chip from Greek John and the bike runs a treat. Good luck with your decision
Cheers, Nick

Andy at Xtreme Stainless Hixion Stafford doe a great job with exhausts. His business base load is for JCB but he does all sorts of specials for bike & cars.
Don't confuse with OS Stainless. He's nearby but not the same.

I went through the options when I had a 1100GS, ie link pipe to Remus road legal end can and the link pipe with a collector box just like in the OPs pictures. Personally I found the noise bordering on too much at anything above idle with the link pipe option. The link pipe with box gave a decent sound without being offensively noisy. All IMO YMMV :thumb2

Hi Judda,

I have a linkpipe for sale that fits a Remus Revolution endcan.
It came off an R1100RT, so it doesn't bend up as high. Pm me if you're interested.

Hi there, thanks for the offer but I think I'm going to stick with the full remus system.
Thanks though

I think you have to be a subscriber to send and receive pms. So I sent you a email through your website.

I ran my old 1100 with just the remus collector box.to me the bike looked better.sounded better and ran slightly better.i did have the end can to match but prefered it that way.
