I'm not 100% sure it's true but I was led to believe that the bias was initially much more to the rear brake, eg 20% front, 80% rear.
Only when the ABS detected the rear was starting to lock up would the bias change towards the more normal 80% front, 20% rear.
This (I think) partly explains why some see very high rear pad wear.
Give the brakes a good "tweak" early on in the ride to get back to a more "normal" bias ??
It might all be Internet folk law though . . .
YMMV but it's difficult for me to tell (no front end dive, etc) exactly what the bias is at any given time. The brakes always stop me quickly but are not tremendously consistent in their feel. This might just be a characteristic of the linked brakes and nothing to do with the bias changing.
Braking hard on my Ducati inspires much more confidence even without ABS and linked brakes.
Personally I think the Honda linked system on my old VFR800 (1998) was way better than the 2006 BMW system (non servo) on my bike. Not sure what Honda systems are like these days.
