Since buying my 1200GS I've stopped using the rear brake as the front does
everything for both. Any downside in this or I am just making best use of
the technology? Interested to hear other views on this.

I use the rear for corrections in turns, etc - for straight braking I don't bother too much...one interesting thing is that my rear disc is badly worn and the pads were replaced at 3,000 miles - now at 8,300...have taken the bike into Prestige to see what can be done, will be going back in next week to see the service mgr and hopefully get it replaced under warranty for excessive wear...

I find the rear brake useful for slow control, scrubbing off a bit of speed in bends when you've gone in a bit too fast, braking of suspect surfaces where you wouldn't want the front to lock (although ABS shoud take care of this), and sliding the bike round in a show offy fashion prior to high siding and flipping off onto my arse.

It'll give you very bad habits and you'll find them extremely hard to break them when/if you ride another bike.......It's one of the reasons I've stopped riding my DRZ

I use it now & then to give it some excercise, to make sure the master cylinder works.
