This may be a really stupid question :eek

I have a 2003 1150. It has ABS. How do I know if it has linked brakes or not?
Heard horror stories about linked brakes, should I worry?

Bike on centre stand...in neutral... pull on front brake lever... can you turn the rear wheel?

If you can... No, it hasn't linked brakes
If you can't... yes it has.

You only have linked brakes if you also have servo brakes. You can tell you have servo brakes by the whine the servo makes. You can also look at the front ABS ring. If it's toothed, it's ABS2, and you don't have linked brakes, if it's perforated, you have ABS3 and linked brakes.

Linked brakes aren't a huge problem. The servos are a bigger problem. The linkage isn't so bad on the GS, as it's only a front-to-back linkage, i.e. the front brake lever also operates the rear brake. My biggest problem with linked brakes is the back-to-front linkage (e.g. on RTs and some Hondas) where the rear brake pedal also operates the front brake. No more dragging the rear brake through U-turns or roundabouts.
