You should've held your English teacher's hand more often though

Seriously, Most things that get missed in a PDI (like under-inflated tyres, bolts not torqued up to spec on bit that the dealer has to assemble out of the crate etc) will only be missed because of a silly time pressure put on to their heads by silly "MUST HAVE IT NOW!" people.
As amusing as the thread has been so far, and yes it does seem like a daft set of questions, but the fact is that there are obviously some crap dealers out there that don't perform the most basic of checks before putting a brand new bike on the road. Anyone that's taken delivery of a bike with loose bolts, or missing hoses should be having serious words with that dealer, and/ or BMW UK.
Most people on here would do their own checks on the bike, but there are some that aren't mechanically minded, and don't know one end of a spanner from the other (I don't quite fall into that category, before the comments).
So yes, what some consider as daft questions could actually help any non mechanically minded owners of a new motorcycle perform some basic safety measures, so I say keep asking the questions, even if they attract the odd piss take.
Well said Nutty.
I know people who dare not post comments on here in fear of asking a question which is old hat to the regulars, or so simple to the techno bods they fear ridicule.
Ask and post as you see fit. If you don't like it as a reader ignore it, there are no prizes for most posts.

Tell ya what, get these friends of yours to ask you the question, then you PM it to me and I'll post it as if it's (genuinely ) from me.......no tricks, no backstabbing, I'll post it straight up.
OK?

You after Nutty's job or just![]()

After discussing the forums with my friends, some are actually real, we all agree, The UKGSer site would be a better place if a few people (usually those who have no friends and spend all their time writing 10000+ posts yet have nothing useful to say) were asked to shut up once in a while.Tell ya what, get these imaginary friends of yours (I'm calling bullshit here by the way) to ask you the question, then you PM it to me and I'll post it as if it's (genuinely ) from me.......no tricks, no backstabbing, I'll post it straight up.

Not funny, not useful, just seem to think what they have to say is important.

I agree about some of them but Wapping has been very helpful with me the past so that bit is crap IMO.+1 Sooty.
Bunch of miserable cnuts on here a lot of the time. Same load of arrogant cantankerous old wank responses, when someone asks a simple question - and then Wapping, whoever the fuck he is, jumps around on the side like the kid who likes to put a shoe in to someone else's scrap, only to then come back a few posts later and say somesuch twatness like, "go easy on the OP, he's only asking... etc etc... blah blah" Did the same to the poor fucker who asked about bike covers a month or so ago.
Might have been a twatty newbie question - but doesn't deserve the arsehole responses.

Well, that's about 95% of the readers here (including me)people who like to think of themselves a tough adventurous types but who won't venture further than the end of their road without consulting at least 4 weather websites and getting written permission from mum.

After reading so many stories on the potential faults, and i am collecting my bike this month (hopefully) maybe we can complied a list of checks for (others as well) when collecting a new 2014 GSWC.
I can only remember a few though:
- Check the distance of space between the fork and subframe. Possible unbalanced distance.
- Bolts at fork might be loose. Check bolts.
- Hose at radiator overflow top nipple. Possible missing hose.
- ESA Spring should be white according to press kits. But in some cases, the spring is black.
- Clutch and Shifting (mixed reports)
- Bad Switches issue (mixed reports)
- Speedometer in a impossible position.
Any thing else anyone might want to add to the list?
