As mine is in having its engine replaced I have a loan bike:

They found a defect to one of my rads so a new one is being ordered and fitted as well, as I have to wait a week for the part I get to use this for another week

God, it's that gay pink seat again. Is it out from Vines?

No, Bahnstormer Alton. Although Vines is much closer I bought it from Bahnstormer so have taken it there for warranty work (engine is out of warranty).

Is the radiator also being replaced free of charge? What was the problem with it? It obviously wasn't leaking?

How come the engine (only) is out of warranty? I thought the warranty covered all parts equally... :-/

Bike was purchased used so came with 2 year warranty but this did not cover corrosion on the engine, which has been replaced out of goodwill

Yes, apparently a defect to the moulding rather than a hole in it - it is leaking coolant

Blimey, was this the BMW Used Approved warranty, they don't make that clear in the advertising blurb do they...?

Well done for getting it sorted out of goodwill though - Result!

It's always been the same, extended warranty does not cover corrosion.

I have heard of it happening in other used bikes under warranty too. Especially where the casing meets strating to corrode

For what its worth : I had a 2013 Honda Goldwing, which eneded up having 2 sets of replacement wheels, ( so 3 sets in total) due to the lacquer peeling off. it had only covered 8,000 miles. The warranty would only cover 2 years from the date of registration. This was one of the reasons I traded it in for the GSA. when i sold it the 3rd set of wheels were going the same way as the previous ones. Corrossion and cosmetic problems don't appear to be covered by any extended warranty.

I'm always amazed when I see these posts of great loan bikes for the day. Here in Australia we get charged and it's usually some well used old piece of shit. Seems like the BMW service is far superior in the UK than it is here.

I have this one for over a week! They seem to be pretty good here. I had a new Yamaha before the GS and they (Yamaha) weren't prepared to offer me one.

I'm surprised they run an Iconic as a loan bike. I thought they were meant to be exclusive.:nenau

I guess it's an acquired taste :) Personally i don't care for it at all

It doesn't float my boat either, but BMW charge a large premium for this model (around £2k IIRC), so I'm surprised to see one being run as a service loan bike.

I had an Iconic RT and was chatting to various dealers about them- the GS didn't appear to be as popular as the RT or the RS.
I think it was the seat that a lot of people didn't like.

I actually really like it, not enough to trade mine in for one mind.
