Chaps,

A friend has asked me if I have any biking knowledge of your fair island as he's going to be over with some work colleagues in a few weeks. As I've not had the pleasure of touring in Ireland I can't be much help, but I thought you guys might;)

They have some kind of work meeting in Limerick and then 3 of them will be returning to Dublin by bike on a Friday afternoon/evening taking a scenic route through the Wicklow mountains.

They are looking for a biker friendly hotel in /near Dublin, ideally with a garage, as a destination at the end of their ride.

Anyone have an suggestions please?

I really don't know what youse do to the hoteliers over there  I've never found a biker unfriendly hotel, B&B or hostel over here. Or across Europe for that matter. Even soaking wet I've never been made to feel unwelcome. And I don't know of anyone who has either. Tell them they'll be alright :thumb

As for your original question, I dunno - the only time I ever stayed in a Dublin hotel with my bike was in Ibis Newlands Cross & I had one of the aux lights broken off & cigs stubbed out on the pannier lid

But I'm sure Hairnet will be along shortly to share his extensive knowledge ;)

biker unfriendly - nah only if you go ibis in clondalkin :D they dont like bmws :D

http://www.lordedwardkildare.ie/lord-edward

kildare 40 mins from port (half an hour if you ignore everybody)

in kildare town - v helpful when had issues :D - the chippys not bad in the square and theres a huge tesco as you come in

i usually stay at hostels in dub when waiting for boat but apart from the travelodge in rathmines (who charge 8 euro)

www.generatorhostels.com - next to jamesons brewery they do private rooms - guinness is cheap too - go in the gate next to the entrance and can chain bikes up - never had a bother and been there numerous times

or avalon house hostel again bunks or private rooms - on the way in from wicklow next door to ymca but theres a bike rack there lock stuff to

www.avalon-house.ie

travelodges at phoenix park and rathmines or swords near the airport

bewleys at the m50 n7 junction and leopardstown near teh race course (handy if coming up through wicklaa)

im better west or north :D

Thanks for the replies guys :beerjug:

As to price range, they will be on expenses, so I should think they will be able to afford somewhere pretty nice. I would think somewhere between 100 and 130 Euro, maybe as much as 150 for somewhere really good...

Cheers Fellas - I've passed the info on :beerjug:

Not surprised, if they cant nick it, they wreck it, toerags. In the breeding here

I can recommend the Royal Marine in Dun Laoghaire. Underground car park, close to the DART and ferry port. And not in Dublin is a bonus.

Spot on.

Try here http://www.tara-hall.ie/ or http://www.mulgravelodge.com/ "biker friendly", you can get the dart to town as Nud1e says, its right beside the ferry port too. Plenty of good boozers along the dart line towards the city.

From Dublin myself, but car parks are a haven for fcukheads trying to steal or wreck bikes ( same as other cities ) not worth the hassle.

If they are ok with the city centre the Raddison have a secure car park apparently http://www.radissonblu.ie/royalhotel-dublin/location A great location too.

I've stayed a few times. Excellent rooms, very good value. No atmosphere in the bar, though. :nenau

Lynhams in Laragh or The Coach House in Roundwood????

40 mins from Dublin, In the heart of some of the best biking roads Wicklow has to offer, absolutely bike friendly and probably a good bit cheaper than some of the 'gems' Dublin has to offer :D

Lynhams of laragh. Reasonable rates and great food. If they want to stay in Dublin I would go with the trinity capital hotel on Pearse st. It is a great location and has underground parking.
