I fitted a set of SW Motech crash bars to my 12GS yesterday, but didn't bother loctiting the threads. What's the opinion -

absolutely necessary :(
a wise precaution :o
doesn't really matter :)
waste of money

Cheers for any advice.

I didn't loctite mine, but I did copaslip the threads to help with removal when it comes to service time.

Cheers mateys! I feel a lot better now and shall not be buying a tube of loctite

Any of you lot fitted Motech bars with the Aluminium Head protectors. Do they fit and if so how much clearance? Touratech bars do not fit with the above protectors. The RH side fouls.

Thats quite right, the RH side is very close and initially when I fitted mine I foolishly thought the minute clearance that was there would be ok, but the engine vibration taught me otherwise...so now, I've put a thick washer under the bottom brace so its slightly at an angle and this seems to give it enough distance from the alu protectors. Though a recent RH knock over has marked the RH side now completely - though its not really visible because it sits under the bar. Does look good though - the TT bars with alu protectors IMHO :augie
