Right, here we go folks. Part 1 of my ride report after myself and Erika return from 3500 miles to Slovakia and back. We packed the bike up the day before departure and had a few concerns about the weight ...

We set off from home at 0400 for the 0630 train to Calais. The weather looked good for the first day of the trip as we boarded the train..

The route took us from Calais to Belgium and into Germany for our 1st nights camping 10K's from the Nurburgring.

We woke up the following day to a nice sunny morning with a planned route to Nurnberg. Not a particularly interesting ride but ended up at a fantastic campsite right behind a huge sports stadium in the centre of the city....

The following day we woke up to rain so packed everything up and headed off for the Czech Republic:D

By the time we arrived nera the Slovak boarder it was 2100 so rather than camp we decided to stay in a hotel and found this place called the Bobrovnic.... I can't recommend it enough. Total cost for the night for 2 of us was about £30:clap

Oops.

Didn't mean to press that.....:blast

Anyway the Bobrovnic was great and very reasonable..

So the following day it was a blast across Slovakia to Michal'any to the awaiting family.....

More to follow.......:D

Nice shots but is that really a LWD bracelet you're wearing?? :eek

London - Slovakia 2008 ....Part 2

So, after finally arriving in Michal'any we spent a full week seeing the sights and sounds that Slovakia has to offer.

We went to Kosice in East Slovakia a few times and it really is a fantastic city with plenty to see. Very clean with great cafe's, restaurants and shops.

The evenings were spent with the family drinking and generally being daft.....:beerjug:

Found a lookalike for Erika's sisters Italian Greyhound:eek:

Sat up one evening watching an amazing electrical storm.......

Took some of the family out on the GS for a blast around the block...

And after 7 days it was time to head off for Bratislava to meet with friends. We stopped along the way at Bojnice to see the castle....

Finally arriving in Bratislava around 2100, we spent the evening drinking beer and eating steak around a fire outside this lovely cottage in the woods.....:D

We loaded up the bike and headed off for Innsbruc in Austria..We managed to get as far as Graz and found an excellent campsite next to the lakes..:D

The following morning we left for Innsbruk and after some stunning roads arrived in time for a bit of a swim.....

Fantastic photos, Shadowfist! :clap

Thank you very much for taking us on your journey, showing us how beautiful Slovakia is and giving us some ideas for the next holiday destination. :thumb2

... although I suspect that the male audience would have preferred a few more pics of Erika... :augie

Thanks Pumpy,

Part 3 to follow shortly........

So we headed off the next morning for the Stelvio and more adventure.....

We went over the top and into Switzerland where halfway down the road turned to gravel......

The Zumo took us on an interesting route to Landack in Austria where we stayed at the Encian which is affiliated to BMW Motorrad. Highly recommended, reasonable prices and very helpfull staff...:thumb

Mmmm

Do tell..!!! Who's that on your left???:augie Erika's Sister..???....:D:D

More to follow.......:D

Oh nearly forgot good photo's Chris... looks like you had a good time...We leave on Friday...

The following day we needed to get the rear tyre replaced and had to go to Vols (just outside Innsbruk:blast) to find another Tourance.......
After that we headed off towards Germany and after 60 miles found an absoutely fantastic campsite in a very picturesque valley so decided to stop for the day and set up camp.........:D

We decided to put the tarp up that night as we were told the weather would be turning to shit overnight......:(

How right they were, we headed off the next morning in pi**ing down rain that stayed with us for most of the day.

As we only had summer clothes with us we headed for the shops in Germany to buy a fleece each as the cold started to get to us.... I don't know what was going on but everywhere was closed.... It was 1100 on a Friday. We finally ended up in a place called Seitz and a BMW dealer who were great, hot coffee and 2 fleeces later we headed off for France....

We stayed near Calais in a crap hotel for our final night and boarded the train for blighty at 1100 the following day..
We both had a fantastic time and Erika has already stated that she wants to do it again but on 2 bikes............. So only need to decide where our next venture is going to take us.......

I have already planted the seed for jacking it all in in a year or two, selling up and fecking off on a RTW trip.......
