Lone rider Spotlights - Unboxing

I've a 1200gs,

I already have a hexezcan installed, so for me it was the just the lights option

I got them on black Friday as they offered them at the initial preorder price £580 i think

They didn't arrive until early Jan though
Whoops , got that price way wrong

It was £487.20

May I ask a silly question ?
Why do people fit such spotlights ? Do you ride a lot at night on unlit roads ?
Most importantly they make you more visible, breaking up the sight pattern from a single light to a triangle, which the pea-brain of the car driver waiting to pull out of a junction has to interpret rather than ignore. As a pilot you will appreciate visual illusions, depth perception, relative speed and that perception is an active process (speaking as an ex av med doc)... Every little helps... Oh, they're good at night too...

People definitely notice me with these lights. They are awesome.

So they are fitted :)

A few observations

Like the security fittings on the lamps, apart from the main "std" fixing bolt , and the rubber damper - Jurys out on that one

The fitting video on LR's website is really good, covers just about every application you could think of

So lamps dry fitted, hooked up the hexezcan, and disabled the Blue and Red circuits ( that's what my old lamps were wired too)

enabled the White circuit..... and nothing

Feck , what have I got wrong ?? its past 3pm now so my options are becoming like the light - Limited

Realised I had 2 instances of hexezcan running, so killed them both

Restarted the hexezcan manager, clicked the white circuit , and yes :) it found the lamps :)

One Bus conflict was reported, but it resolved that and Yes we have lights

spent the next 30 mins configuring what i could work out on the menus

One feature they don't mention is if you have an old Pre LC GS, you can configure and toggle the lights from the Info button

So then its wait until dark to align the spot beams , i think i have it OK, I'll find out in the morning :D

Brightness wise 1-7 are just background light, but when it hits 8 9 10 11 - Feck it's like the Sun has come to earth !!!!

(And that's the Dip side of things, jeepers you get to Play all over again on FB ..)

More updates to come

I have these lights and I have to say they are awesome. It was a no brainer against the Denali's. Bit of a faff to fit (as I supposed they all are)
If you can get them for that price grab them. They are £850 on the LoneRider website.
I got mine in the second batch and got they xmas discount
I would say if go for the undermount bar (1250) its superb quality and way cheaper than the same mount from Nippy's or Touratech.

Not as good as i hoped going to work this morning

Low beam was fine , but the main beam and spot were way off,

I set them 1m to the bottom of the spot and angled just left of centre

On the road the were illuminating the treetops at about 1 o'clock

I'll have another play tonight ,

Why not, a bit of extra bling can't be a bad thing. Safety and extra visibility aside I think these lights are brilliant. I love the amber DRL that flashes with your indicators, it's my favourite feature :D
