I knew about Nundle from the BM Safari in O5 and had always wanted to go back and see more of the area.
This is what it looked like that day

Day off on Friday and out of Sydney early to ride the 400 odd Kms to get there. Nundle is between the Barrington Tops (5000ft) and the New England Tableland and is generally green and lush. We went via the most interesting route we could find. This is about 90Kms south near Ellerston where Kerry Packer has (d) a lavish polo stud

There were a few fords to keep thing interesting but easy riding. This area is pretty isolated and the roads get very little traffic

The next day was nearly all dirt roads- about 430Kms. Apart from the one town where we met up with another mate we hardly saw a handful of cars during the whole day.
Here we are messing around in cattle country. The road is in the background and runs for about 40kms down the valley

After lunch in Gloucester and a rendevous with our fourth member we rode over the Barrington Tops in a deluge and popped out on the other side in the sun. We stopped for a snack and to dry out near these things. A whole hillside of grasstrees that normally grow in semi desert areas. There is not another one around for hundreds of miles yet there are all these in one spot

Then came the road of fords. There were about a dozen of these crossings within the space of about 10kms

They look pretty innocuous but some of them had good sized boulders in them. Here's Rob or David (both 12gsa and both white helmets) losing points for style

Then a short technical interlude while David fixed his puncture.
We all looked on in admiration:thumb2
Especially when he broke his $9 kmart pump which he had been bragging about all weekend:D
