I am looking at replacing my old and not very waterproof HG boots and took a ride up to Atlbergs today to have a look at their range. I have fitted Migsel's lower pegs to my GS and this means that the gear lever is very close to the left peg.

New boots don't look much bulkier than my old ones, but the leather on the old ones is much softer and with a more solid toe on the boot, I can't get under the gear lever to change up.

Is anyone using an extended / longer / adjustable gear lever that they can recommend, so at least I know that I am buying something decent that will work properly and not fall off!

I beleive Touratech do one, usual quality no dout Credit card at the ready!:cool:
 
I don't know about lowered pegs - I don't understand why you'd want to fit pegs that touch down earlier than the standard ones do. Do they have rubbers in them? If so, you could pull the rubbers out and that would give a bit more clearance. At the same time, move the original gearchange lever up one spline.

I find that on OE pegs without rubbers and with the gearchange lever moved as I've described, I can quite easily change gear in Moto X boots.

Tall with 36" inside leg, so the lowered pegs give me a bit more room on the bike. The pegs are lower again than the standard without the rubbers (did that first) and it makes a difference for me. I have never had problems with the pegs touching down either, probably too slow.

My only reservation is that the top of my boot goes a bit aluminium-coloured after a while.

All that said - brilliant bit of kit.:thumb

I have seen this on NN's site, but the blurb says only 16 mm longer than stock when fully extended and I am looking for about 30 mm.

The Touratech one looks more basic, but is cheaper and longer.

Are there any other options out there?
 
I've got the Touratech one and am very happy with it. There's plenty of adjustment along it's length and it does the job.
 
I may be missing the point but can't you adjust the lever up a notch or two? Presumably the Altbergs are thicker but not longer?

But the lower pegs are also shifted forwards, so the gap between the peg and the lever is now quite small. I would also shift it up a bit, but longer as well. Will probably try the Touratech one first since it has the most adjustment built in and I haven't been able to find any other options.

Fair does...worth a bit of fiddling about for the Altbergs...fantastic boots.

Yes, I was a bit p*ssed off when I couldn't get them to work the lever, so I need to get a fix then order the boots. A good excuse for another run up to North Yorks though, I had a nice day out last week.

If you can't find one, off the peg as it were, why not try to get one made-to-measure?

Harris Performance Products, or someone similar, could probably CNC one to spec. http://www.harris-performance.com/ Not cheap but if it does the job :nenau

Was planning this already, not fully CNC but a laser cut blank and then machined to suit to keep the cost sensible.

If you do this try to make sure there is at least a small amount of adjustability. The TT one allows me to adjust to suit riding style, with just a small allen key. If wearing my MX boots I move it forward a notch or two, if on the road back a notch or two. It's surprising, but it does make a difference.
