Longish range add on lights?

Have a look at these

Not cheap but could be what you're looking for? They're certainly on my wish list.:drool

Any chance you can you get these Mr Farnum?

Probably OK as running lights but can't see how they would light up the road for any real distance at night :nenau

Beemerman,

I like your set up with the Migsel light bar but I'm curious as to how you mounted the OEM auxilliary lights underneath the bar?

The Migsel web site states the bar isn't suitable for use with the OEM lights but you seemed to have managed it. Would you be prepared to share your secret?

I have a set of LED spots waiting to go onto my 2010 Adventure but don't want to lose the BMW lights...

Cheers

I cut off a piece of square angle iron and drilled a hole for the OEM bolt to go through (to attach the OEM lights to it) and another bolt hole at the top to fix it to the light bar. Its a bit fiddly getting a nut in there as well to take the upper bolt but once done its stable.

I bought a pair of these http://24x7diy.com/product_info.php/products_id/94

They are IP65 which have been perfectly fine in the shite weather so far. obviously not as waterproof as IP67 but I ride a motorcycle not a submarine!

As for the light output, may someone else who has seen them can comment, but I'm very impressed. Still need an HID main beam because they are slightly short in distance compared to the main beam, but only once past 75mph.

All ali consruction, the only shite bit is the mounting which is ok, but I'd like to improve. It's stable and stainless steel, so maybe I'm a bit harsh, but I'm getting quite particular about my lighting set up.

I have put LED inards in my micro De's to turn them into daytime running lights (saves a huge amount of current draw).

Biggest issue now is when switching from hi to lo beam. I think the difference is too much because even with a 50w HID, it's like someone turned the lights off and pulled all the blinds down :blast

The latest LED lamps deliver 3000 lumens from around 24watts. A 55W halogen makes 900 lumens. The issue is long range focus on a good halogen is still better than the LEDs. I dont know if that's lamp design or just how it is with LEDs.

Some cycle lights deliver 1800 lumens and have switchable output. It would be handy to have them on low as day/marker lights and high with main beam. Ive not seen anything (other than those Clearwater Krista) that have a dimmable output.
