I'm looking to buy two spare wheels for my '07 650 Dakar. Can anyone recommend a good online source for them in the UK or Germany? I like the look of black Excel wheels but fear they are a little pricey ...

very difficult get them now specific for the bike. best go get spare hubs and spokes, then get wheel builder to drill and mount excel rims to them. they will be dear

woodywheels in usa does this for lads all the time but be looking 1000K dollar for them with dunlop wheels on them too

Bit confused between the rim and the hub, what is the difference? As you can tell I'm clueless ...

I'm taking quite a serious trip trough several African countries where time will be of the essence. Since there will be a support vehicle I'd like to take two spare wheels + tires pre fitted to them. In case something goes wrong I can just take the wheel out and replace it. Never had a flat so far but dented my front wheel recently on a big ass rock.

hub is the centre part of the wheels, where the brake discs fit, rim is the outer edge of the wheel.

The excel wheels are pricey, but then so is woodys in the states, woodys wheels will survive the abuse tho.

Might the best bet be to find a set of hubs and get someone to lace a set of excell rims to them as john suggested. Fit those wheels as your main set and keep the oem set as backups. the excel rims should take a fiar ammount of abuse before breaking.

It appears motorworks have used front and rear wheels, fronts are £215 and rears are £195, the guys at motorworks are good people :thumb2 give em a ring on 0845 458 0077, appears they also have front and rear hubs for £75 each, may have to ring them myself :augie

Other than that its ebay or a bike breakers.
