I've just started looking around for another helmet - & without breaking the bank, I have spotted a couple that appear to be value for money ( under £300)

They are both carbon & with integral sun visors - which appeal to me.

Anybody got any views on:

HJC Carbon HQ10

Caberg carbon V2R

Or any alternatives ??

I have an HJC carbon and its noisy as hell, I would ythink most of these are because they are racing replicas rather than touing jobs.

Consider ...

... the Bell M4R Carbon, sub 1kg (just) and the only distortion free visor I've ever come across :thumb2 No sun visor, but as quiet as any other helmet I've got, cost £320 from a local independent dealer.

Carbon helmets are great for extended touring, where you really notice the lightness of them.

My only concern is that Carbon fibre is an inherently brittle material, and although they have passed the relevant tests............

They maybe aren't quite as good in a spill on tarmac?

HJC and Bell, it has to be said - have produced great helmets at a good price :thumb2

Al :)

Arai Tour X.

Light as you like.
No sun visor but the peak is very useful on a sunny day.
Washable liner.
Very good field of view.

I've had mine for a couple of years and love it.

If you can wait and have a run through to the bike show at the NEC. I got a Schuberth S1 last year for £180 compared to this years S1 Pro at £450
Btw I do like it and it performed well over my 4300mile trip through Europe this year. I suggest a try on of one, you might like it :thumb2
