Hi All

I am looking for a new touring bike to replace the Triumph Trophy I sold before we moved house last year.

I have narrowed my search and am looking for a BMW 1200RT LC , an ST1300 & the Yamaha FJR1300. Looking for something with less than 30K miles, decent service history with everything working as it should, accident & finance free, ideally with a topbox.

As well as monitoring Autotrader and Facebook marketplace, I thought Id ask on here if anyone has something that might be suitable for my needs.

If it’s the ST1300, I’d be looking at a 2012 registered or newer.

For the others and based on Autotrader private sales and Facebook ads:

For the BMW,I reckon my budget should allow for a 2016-2018 sub 30K mile bike. (Been advised on the RT owners’ site not to purchase pre 2016 due to potential issues with alternators which are an expensive repair).

For the FJR, I reckon my budget should allow for a 2015-2017 sub 30K mile bike.

Anyone looking at selling one of the above which might meet the criteria?

Thanks

Baz

Haven’t said what your budget is.
Have you ruled out the Ninja Z1000SX Performance Tourer?
Hi, I have given an indication of the year bikes I think I can afford. I dont want to divulge my top budget as it leaves me with less to negotiate with. Not looking at anything else.
Thanks

I have a 1200 RT 90th anniversary edition with just fifteen thousand miles on. Bought from John Nicholson of this parish. It comes with everything as standard. Heated seats, music, cruise, panniers, topbox with inner bags. It is not exactly what you were after but it’ll do what you want. I just haven’t used it since i bought it. Lokking for somewhere between £5 to £6k

Hi thanks, but i was looking for an LC bike.

You can tell me to fook off and mind my own business,
But I wouldn’t touch an LC bike without a warranty.
A bike of that age/ price,I’d go jap.
How about a good 1150?

As the market is all to shite at the moment and for at least the short term future, trying to assess the value of the bikes you mention is mainly down to the realism of the seller.... Hence the budget request... For us guys that means a bit of very approximate guesswork...😉 A year ago the bikes you mention may have been £1k or more, more valuable and some sellers are still stuck with that mindset...

Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm looking for one of the bikes listed in the first post, not interested in anything else at this point. The bikes suggested so far do not meet my requirements other than from DJ123.

As for the budget, I dont want to divulge what my limit is. I have been looking at the private sale prices of the bikes listed for the past 6 weeks on Autorader & Marketplace , so I know that I should have the budget to cover purchase the bikes in the years listed. If anyone have one, then drop a DM and we can discuss.

Cheers all.

My dad has an rt he wants to sell he has bought a triumph 900 and no longer uses it, it’s a limited edition black thing from what I remember, I can get more photos and details it your interested, I don’t think it was a lot of money.

For info the price in the listing is £8295 - £8k to a forum member.

Cheers, D
