looking for investment / fun

Keep an eye out for a good R90/6 which is the poor man's R90S and a better bike in many ways. As has already been pointed out old M/Cs can be a money pit, best to get the best you find, keep it well serviced and keep your fingers crossed. Might pay to get a lucky charm and leave it in the tool kit as well :)

North Cornwall Motorcycles are currently trying to sell a R90S that is OK but not special for £14k and a 51k mile. R100RS for £8500  extracting the urine me thinks.

How is that shed I sold you going ? :D

Going good Kenny. I took it to Moto Pistons in the Picos last October and covered nearly 1000 miles including a 320 mile day out on the 5000 curves :beerjug:

You could try this one ......

Just removed the drive shaft, and had one U/V joint repaired by MikeyBoy, so now all in excellent running order, ready to go up for sale in a couple of weeks.
I'll be asking around £5000. Definitely fun, and might be an investment given time .....that's if people keep buying them to convert/massacre into cafe racers !

My 2p: pick an airhead with the styling that does it for you i.e. naked, RT, RS, S. Buy with your head (not heart) as regards condition
and you won't regret it. You certainly won't/shouldn't lose money once you maintain it. Yes, they are an older bike but they are no more
difficult to maintain that a Japanese bike of that period and are a joy to work on (in my opinion).
Now, we are all different (thankfully I hear you say !) but outside of the pre' 1969 range, the R90S and R80G/S are the biggest movers
in value in recent years as others have pointed out here. After these, I firmly believe the /5 range will be next to increase in value if
you are interested in prices. Bikes like the RS and R100S will only increase too.
If you buy, do not be afraid to use it......the spares availability is fantastic !

Thanks guys loving the advice please keep it coming and suggestions to what web sites i should be looking at for bikes and spares etc

Here's one...just needs a new battery; some minor rocker damage; probably replacement speedometer clock; top end rattle to be sorted and a silencer , all for a 'snip' of £4,500:D

It's one of those...... you can always tell. More is less
The advert is padded out with frothy bullshite in the hope that it hides the problems amongst all the florid prose.

Love this part of the description ------- The headlight is working well on high and dipped beam, the rear light is working as is the brake light on both the front and rear brakes, the bike is not fitted with indicators and the horn sounds. The switchgear is good, the speedometer is not working so the true mileage is unknown.

The headlight is working well ??? it either works or it doesn't.

Sounds a right load of trouble. Starter doesn't turn the engine over every time, it's hard to start, and there's a engine rattle. They suggest all cured by a simple service and perhaps a new battery..

Why not fecking service it then and fit a new battery and sell it as running superbly without any problems...

How about this part of the description of another bike he's selling

" The top adjuster has an Isle of Man 2p piece on it this could be removed with no damage as it is blue tacked in place but we felt this was a part of the bikes history and the choice should belong to the new owner. " :D

It is a genuine R80G/s, which isn't always the case,
And to be fair it is at least declared a dog, even if it is dressed up,

You would be better off picking up a £7k mint one, than chancing getting this one on the road for less, without the issues, I would be concerned that the last owner has replaced the barrels and Pistons incorrectly and starving the top end of oil, based purely on the parts that come with it!
