I`ve noticed that the cylinders and heads on the 13 look a lot more compact than the 1250s.

how are you measuring things ? overall width is always playtime with any GS in dense traffic -
- on a GS you have to manage both handguard end points and cyl cover distance all at the same time - when filtering queues of slow moving cars - as you dip left and right and wiggle bars trying to pass multiple car mirrors, you must check how close the engine cover or engine bars are to wiping out the bottom of one front wing, as you manage the bar end to the car on the other side then as you flip back up you need to check clearance to the doors....
- on a GSA its all far harder- as tank girth and their protection bars add even more to the mix and now we have more than 8 points of hell to fight all at the same time

2011 air cooled GSA vs 2025 1300GS with enduro engine bars - the difference is the 1300 is more than 3 inches wider
with the 1300GSA engine bar wings that stick out another 2 inches extra each side - give or take that's the extra 6" I was on about about
are you denying most dealerships don't have 6 almost new GSAs parked in the sales forecourt ? ones near me all withing commuter range of london all had more than 8 at the end of summer

I have not filtered on my new 1300GSA yet, but I regularly filtered on my 1250GSA with hard luggage with no problems. Doesn't matter how slim the bike is if some tit in a car is right on the white line! If I get to the point where I cant filter for a while, I just wait!
He’d be alright on his Tri-ang scooter….
