Looks like the end of the line for Buell....

Apparently, they're moving all production and sales over to China. From next year it'll be Buell In A China Shop

:blast

Its interesting that they are selling MV but winding down(mothballing?) Buell rather than trying to sell it as well.

I'm not surprised about the Buell thing HD are in trouble and its pitiful how little square footage is devoted to them in even in the biggest H-D showrooms both here and in the US + they used to co brand the outside of the buildings which they dont seem to do anymore .

Its means that Ulysses will be even cheaper than before though , might even be worth buying one in a years time or so .....except for the lack of spares.

I wonder if Erik will raise some cash and buy it back :nenau

I wouldn't bank on the new ones being cheaper. If dealers have got some new stock sitting around in the showroom and they know they can't get any more I'd be supprised if they knock a penny off. We don't when new models come along.

It's a shame and I've always been tempted by a Buell

That could be a lot to do with intellectual rights in some of the R&D :nenau

How can "free thinkers" claim intellectual rights?
Shame about Buell though, they sound great and look,er,interesting but I would'nt part with much money for one.

oh well,

i own a living legend now!

may take my Uly for spin this evening in memory of all the workers and engineers - to remind myself what a fine motorcycle they had built!

sad day to see an icon disappearing, but i am sure it will be going up again...one day!

Very sad news indeed, I admire Erik Buell as an engineer and innovator who created something different. Clearly a passionate man who forged his own path rather than follow the accepted norm. The motorcycle world is a poorer place with the loss of Buell and who knows what the future holds for MV also.....bad news all round. :(

Very well put :thumb2 its guys that break with tradition and improve the breed that are wanted, rather than warming over the same old stuff year on year.

The UK market is a drop in the ocean compared to the US operation though. Secondly, how many of them are new bikes? :nenau

According to published sales figures for the entire industry, Harley Davidson sales have experienced a steep decline in the US thanks to the recession, but comparative sales figures show that every other motorcycle manufacturer suffered even greater losses in the US market than HD.

:rose

Never owned one, though always had one in my fantasy garage, engineering innovations as he described are excellent, went on there own path and looked unique (a bit like BuMW)

A true & good engineer, a loss to the biking world IMHO
