Looks like the end of the line for Buell....

I got the chance a few year's back to ride every bike in the Buell range over the course of a weekend....I always thought that I might own one at some point.....:(

HD's woes have little to do with Buell. Mor to do with the fact that average tassle tracor owner doesn't want cutting edge - so the V-Rod has been a sales disaster
Most of the HOG just want bike that make them look bad and mean, and make a potato noise on tick over. All the investment in the V-Rod has been pissed up the wall ... until 2012 when noise regs means the old evo air cooled engine no longer mets regulations. So even more problems for the HD company.

Buell was a victim of not fitting in, we didn't she HD shops as temples of lifestyle products.
Buell owners questioned Harley's appalling quality control and lack of customer support. They were not the loyal and stupidly brand orienated cruiser owner, who bought the t shirt, boots, jacket, ash tray and dog bandana ...
HD managers have constantly tried to close down non-official buell websites ... with all sorts of threats of legal action

The selling of MV and shelving Buell smacks of spite, TBH. But also, I guess HD could use it in a few years as the "Sporting Badge" of HD - for hotted up versions of the cruiser tat ...

There is a hope that Erik will continue - using the Rotax motor and with the injection of cash from elsewhere. Lets hope it's a story to match Triumph ...

It would be nice to see Erik maybe taking up a consulting role of sorts with a company like KTM or Ducati, with there sometimes different take on how things could be done, I think he would work well within that enviroment.

A shame to see any company go under but they are not the first and they won`t be the last. Survival of the fittest etc.etc.
Take note those that got all uppety when it was announced that Triumph would be having some of their manufacturing done in Far East. Look at how well Triumph are doing despite the recession.

oh well,

i own a living legend now!

may take my Uly for spin this evening in memory of all the workers and engineers - to remind myself what a fine motorcycle they had built!

sad day to see an icon disappearing, but i am sure it will be going up again...one day!

Lars

Hi Lars,

I'd be taking my Buell Ulysses out for a 'rememberence' ride aswell to remind myself what a fine motorcycle the Uly is but its broken at the moment and Harley haven't finished repairing it yet......!

It's a unique classic, can't wait to get it back.......!:thumb

'when you own a Buell your warranty is your best friend'

FP.

Tarka must in :tears:tears:tears:tears once the carrier pigeon get the news to him:D

Wake up at the back,ya big fat Guinness (or Magners :augie) swilling ponytailed lummox.

It`s over a year since I sold my Uly. !! :rob :rob

Delayed quote due to time pigeon took to reach me.............. :P

I wouldn't bank on the new ones being cheaper. If dealers have got some new stock sitting around in the showroom and they know they can't get any more I'd be supprised if they knock a penny off. We don't when new models come along.

It's a shame and I've always been tempted by a Buell

Riders ahave aood deal on some models at the moment:

http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/bikesforsale/searchresults/detail/?R=NXGN-1920961&mfy=

Was £8710 now £4999otr. I would be pretty fed up if I had paid RRP for one in the last couple of months.

Wish I had £5k cos I reckon that would be a hoot to have in the stable :thumb

Called into Riders today with the cash from selling my Harley burning a hole in my pocket. Ended up putting a deposit down on a black Buell 1150CR.
It's the cafe racer version of the 1150R: Naked bike, 146hp and 170kg, 8% lower gearing than the 1150R, it should be interesting :)

I loved the look of that bike ... then I went out and tried it :blast

It was just not very easy to ride, and I was really really sad.

Yeah the CR got better reviews than the R from what I read.

Enjoy :thumb

Thanks Rushy. 2 year u/l milage warranty, first service free, 1 years breakdown recovery for under £5k is a deal and a half :thumb2

I have on order two red 1125CR's.
Best bargain i`ve seen in a long long time.
Understand today, that dealers have been asked to pay up front for them, dealers not happy, so i guess there may be a few delays as harley need to fund the distribution of approx 1000 buells from europe to the UK.
Hope it dont take long, itching to give this 146 bhp ugly bug a bimble before the snow. ;)

bit slow here this week

how about a photo...
